Our History

The Beginning & Significant Dates -

1873 - Monmouth RFC was founded. The game brought into the town through Monmouth School.  A master introduced it and the club was a combination of older boys and town players.

1883 - MRFC became members of the Welsh Rugby Union which was formed in 1881.  Early headquarters included the YMCA in Agincourt Square, The White Swan, The Kings Head, The Punch House and The Nelson Rooms.  Early games were played at Riverside Meadows, Old Dixton Road, Gibraltar Fields and Vauxhall Fields.

1969 - The Old Druids Head was purchased and it remains Club HQ to this present day. 

1984 - New Changing Room development. 

1998 - New Function Room development.

1934 - Main pitch at Monmouth Sports Ground established.

1974 - Formation of Monmouth Mini-Rugby section—now known as Young Rugby.
